While PTFE is less commonly used in general applications, it is preferred in specific industries like chemical, food, and pharmaceuticals due to its exceptional chemical resistance and low frictional characteristics. PTFE seals can endure a wide temperature range of -80 °C to 200 °C, but they necessitate a harder and finer shaft finish for optimal performance.
EPDM
EPDM oil seals are less widely utilized but provide excellent resistance to solvents, hot water, and steam. This material can endure frigid temperatures down to -50 °C and can tolerate UV radiation. Some EPDM variations are capable of withstanding temperatures up to +150 °C, although these seals are typically available upon request.
VMQ (Silicone)
VMQ, or silicone, is sometimes utilized for oil seals; however, it is less favorable due to its lower mechanical strength and wear resistance.
