Auto Loading Feeder Overview - SMT Assembly Systems

The front holes are designed for a center pin on the feeder. The back hole is intended for a mounting pin that accommodates pneumatic pressure through a side hole. The screws are merely there to secure the metal plate, which holds the Y seals for pneumatic functionality.

It is important to note that the back pin location is not critical; the pick location is generally directly above the front pin. For example, my 21-slot mount from Robotdigg utilizes a single long metal plate, while this model appears to be divided into sections, necessitating two screws in specific locations. However, the underlying concept remains the same.

The feeder slot spacing is typically 16mm, although 16.5mm has also been mentioned. The 8mm feeder fits perfectly into each slot; however, the 12mm and 16mm feeders are too wide and can only occupy every second slot. This accounts for the visible empty center holes between the left feeders.

In my personal machine setup, I don’t have pneumatic connections to every location, as I have only a limited number of 8mm CL feeders, with the majority being 12mm and 16mm. This same hole configuration can be utilized to install a vibration feeder for tubes, in which case pneumatic pressure is unnecessary.
