4 Advice to Choose a CPET Shrink Film
Comprehensive Guide to Know About Shrink Film Price - HYF
When purchasing Shrink Film, knowing the frequently asked questions and their answers will help you make an informed purchasing decision. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions by consumers and their detailed answers:
Applications of Shrink Film
;
1. What is Shrink Film?
Shrink film is a thermoplastic film that is commonly used to package products. When heated, shrink wrap wraps tightly around the item, providing protection, dust protection, and aesthetics.
2. What are the types of shrink wrap?
Common types of shrink film include:
- PVC shrink film: suitable for low-temperature shrinkage, commonly used in food and daily necessities packaging.
PVC Shrink Film
- PET shrink film: with high transparency and strength, suitable for high-end product packaging.
- POF shrink film: made of polyolefin, environmentally friendly and non-toxic, suitable for food packaging.
3. How to choose the right shrink film?
The following factors should be considered when choosing shrink film:
- Product type: choose the right film material according to the shape and size of the packaged item.
- Shrinkage temperature: Different types of shrink films have different shrinkage temperature ranges.
- Transparency and Glossiness: Selection is based on the demand for product display effect.
- Environmental requirements: if you need to meet environmental standards, choose biodegradable or non-toxic film.

4. How to choose the thickness of shrink film? .
The thickness of shrink film affects its strength and transparency. Typically, thinner films (e.g. 0.03mm) are used for food packaging, whereas products requiring greater protection may require thicker films.
5. Do I need specialized equipment to use shrink film?
Yes, using shrink film usually requires a shrink wrapping machine. This equipment heats the film material so that it shrinks and wraps tightly around the product. For smaller applications, manual or semi-automatic equipment is also available.
6. What does the shrink ratio of shrink wrap mean?
Shrinkage ratio refers to the maximum contraction rate of the film during the shrinkage process. For example, a film with a 50% shrink ratio can reduce in length or width by 50% during shrinkage. Select the appropriate shrinkage ratio to ensure that the film will completely cover the product.
7. Does shrink film have an impact on the environment?
Traditional shrink films are mostly made of PVC, which may have some impact on the environment. However, with the increasing awareness of environmental protection, biodegradable or environmentally friendly shrink films, such as POF film material, have appeared on the market, reducing the burden on the environment.
8. How to store shrink film to ensure its quality?
Shrink film should be stored in a dry and cool environment, avoiding direct sunlight and high temperature. It is recommended to store the film flat and avoid heavy pressure and friction to maintain its properties and appearance.
9. What is the price of Shrink Film?
The price of shrink film varies depending on the material, thickness, size and quantity ordered. In general, PVC film is more affordable, while PET film is slightly more expensive. Discounted prices are usually available for bulk purchases.
10. Where can I purchase high quality shrink film?
It is recommended to choose a reputable supplier or manufacturer to buy shrink film. You can find a suitable supplier in the following ways:
- Online search: find local or global suppliers of shrink film through search engines.
- Industry trade shows: Attend trade shows in the packaging industry to get in touch with suppliers directly.
- Industry associations: Consult relevant industry associations for a list of recommended suppliers.

How to Choose Shrink Film? Standards for Identifying Shrink Film ...
During the normal operation of shrink packaging, the selection of shrink film material is crucial. Firstly, the film must have a certain shrinkage rate both longitudinally and transversely. The shrinkage rate is calculated as follows: shrinkage rate = (L1-L2)/L1 * 100%, where L1 is the original length, and L2 is the length after soaking in glycerin at 120°C for 1 to 2 seconds and cooled with water. Shrink film has the characteristic of thermal recovery. When the film is made from raw materials, it is preheated, stretched, and cooled to form the shrink film. When this film is reheated, it will shrink and return to its original shape.
Therefore, the film is required to have a shrinkage rate of about 50% in both vertical and horizontal directions, as well as sufficient heat sealing strength, tensile strength, impact strength, tear strength, appropriate moisture resistance, and oil resistance. There are many types of shrink films in use, such as Polyolefin (POF), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), followed by Polyvinylidene Chloride (PVDC), Polyester (PET), Polystyrene (EPS), Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (EVA).
The strength, transparency, and elongation of shrink film are superior to ordinary plastic films. When stretched at the appropriate temperature, the elongation of the film can increase to 1:4 to 1:7 before condensation, while the elongation of ordinary films is only 1:2. Shrink films are divided into two types, one is biaxially stretched shrink film, with almost equal axial stretching in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
National standards require shrink films to be tested for thickness, tensile properties, heat shrinkage rate, right-angle tear performance, and other physical properties. The corresponding testing instruments specified in the national standards include CHY-U Thickness Gauge for testing film thickness, XLW-500N Intelligent Electronic Tensile Testing Machine for testing tensile properties and right-angle tear performance, and RSY-03 Heat Shrinkage Tester for testing heat shrinkage rate. Strict compliance with national standard indicators is required for testing.
